Welcome to our winery |
| Peter
and Jana Prygodicz would like to welcome you to Twelve Acres Winery. The winery handles all the winemaking from crushing grapes right through to the final bottling and packaging. We haear many comments from people noticing the "sameness" of wines they buy lately. Perhaps this is due to the large number of takeovers lately, with many wineries under the same umbrella. Perhaps being influenced too much. |

We are immune from this influence, and pride ourselves on giving a unique experience to our customers of "our" style of wine - wines we ourselves enjoy with our evening meal. Our grapes come in from a small number of grapegrowers, who have special plots for 12 Acres grapes. The close relationship built up with our growers ensure an excellent quality of grapes for our wines. Even though we are only 17 kilometres from Nagambie, there is no mains power, so that the winery is run off generators and solar power. We do all the winemaking ourselves, controlling all aspects of our production, including talking to the customers at our homely cellar door. The name Twelve Acres comes from the fact that the block was always 12 Acres, even when all surrounding blocks were large - at least a thousand acres. It used to be called the "bastard block". We originally bought the land in 1987, when it was completely overgrown with "Chinaman's scrub." We have planted trees and bushes to attract wildlife and birds. The tree and birds on the label give a "feel" for our winery and surrounds. |
