Deathmatch Tips

Anyone who has played me in Doom2 Deathmatch before, will know that I am invincible. Hehehe. So if you want to know how to be as good as me, follow these tips. (Sorry about the lack of space in here, my head is taking up most of the room.)

  1. Always run. You can do anything you could do walking while running anyway, but faster. Put a paper clip on the shift button if you want.
  2. Learn to run backwards. If you are being chased down a hallway, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to shoot back while fleeing.
  3. While we are on the subject of running, there is a way to run faster than normal. Called the Straft Run, you hold down the Alt button (straft or sidestep) and the shift button (run) and press the forward and left or right buttons. You will run diagonally forward, an awkward angle but alot faster. Can be good for charging towards an opponent and aiming a shot at the same time.
  4. Straft running along a north-south or east-west wall can make you run faster aswell. It takes a bit of practice but works if you get the right angle on the wall.
  5. Don't be predictable. If you do the same thing everytime, your opponent will be able to anticipate your next move and ambush you.
  6. If you are playing Deathmatch 2.0 with respawning of weapons and ammo, you can mark objects by picking up a clip perhaps and then ammediatly going for a rocket launcher. Then later when you see the clip respawn, you will know the rocket launcher is not far behind. This is great if you get in a routine and your enemy can't even get his hands on a shotgun. (This contradicts tip 5 though so you work out which one to use.)
  7. If you are ambushing an enemy from a secret hiding spot or just up high where they would have trouble spotting you, try to use a weapon like the shot guns or chain gun. This way, you have got a better chance of doing them some damage without them seeing you because a) They won't be able to pinpoint the exact place you are shooting from. If you use a rocket launcher or plasma gun, they will see where you are shooting from, and b) rockets, plasma cells and BFG shots take time to get to your opponent, so if they move, you waste ammo. If they are far away while you are targeting them, by using a shot gun or chain gun, the bullets will get there immediatly.

Thats all I could be bothered writing. I copied most of these tips from other sites anyway.
