I have wanted to play doom2 against opponents on the internet for a long time, and now I have found a way to do it.
It is a program called zdoom, which can be used to launch doom, doom2 and other idgames games from ICQ. ICQ is of course that cool little program that alerts you when your friends are online. It can also be used to launch games between people.
I have just got both and they are great. I strongly suggest you get both these programs, because at the moment, there are not very many zdoomers out there. I am doing my part to spread the good news about it, and hopefully get more people interested.
Zdoom is widely accepted as the fastest TCP/IP doom around, its free, and it even adds cool things like jumping, looking up and down, and choosing your own colour to doom2.
Now go and get ICQ, then Zdoom. All the instructions for setting up ICQ to run Zdoom are at this last page.

Unfortunately my computer is not fast enough to play zdoom on the net. So I can still only play with one other person with modems and phone lines. My computer is a 100 pentium and I only have a 14.4 modem, so if you want to play zdoom, you really need a much better computer and modem.
