Disclaimer:

He was blindfolded. His hands tied. He didn’t know where they were taking him.

Who were they?

Shit, how did he let himself be ambushed? Too busy trying to find Rachel. She’d already been missing for two days.

Maybe this person was responsible for her disappearance. They led him into a room.

"Look I don’t know what you want. So how about telling me?"

"Frank!"

"Rachel? You here too? What the hell is going on?"

The kidnapper removed his blindfold and hurried out the door, locking it behind them, without speaking.

"I don’t know Frank. But God I’m glad to see you. All I have heard is some talking, a computer modem connecting, and heaps of keyboard noise."

Frank struggled and managed to untie his hands. And went to the door and listened.

A woman’s voice – he could hear her obviously yelling on the phone.

"Sssshhh…… come and listen."

"Well YOU TELL MR MCELROY if he ever wants hem back he’d better get the paperwork for ownership drawn up VERY SOON or we’ll just KEEP THEM ANYWAY!"

The phone receiver could be heard slamming down on the phone.

Rachel looked at Frank, "Shit, think we are gonna be here awhile Frank. Do you want to untie me please?"

"Nah, I don’t mind you tied up!" <g>

"Frank!"

Need I say more?

Until we see the paperwork from Hal., they’re ours!

Authors notes: Well this was going to just be a disclaimer for a fic… But I knew I would have to find an appropriate fic. Then Simone suggested after reading the disclaimer that I should turn it into a fic… So this is dedicated to Simone

Following on from the disclaimer….

"Come on Frank. Untie me will ya? Cut the crap!"

"Okay, okay. Keep your shirt on woman!" he retaliated.

He looked at her with a devilish grin.

Rachel preempted his thoughts God she knew him well.

"DON’T even think about it Francis James Holloway! My knee still works fine!"

He gave her one of his famous ‘whatever do you mean?’ looks of pure innocence. Innocence. Ha! He could be such a manipulative bastard when he wanted.

"So, have they been treating you okay?" Frank asked as he untied her hands.

"Yeah, actually really well. I haven’t had any complaints," she replied. "They only just moved me here today. I haven’t had my hands tied the whole time, just when we moved."

"Do you have any idea where we are?" asked Frank.

Rachel’s hands were now free and she was rubbing her wrists. They tried the door , it was definitely locked and the room had no windows.

"Nah, not too sure. They were keeping me somewhere under the bridge to start. I think the place belonged to friends of the one we heard on the phone."

"Listen!" said Frank.

They stood, unmoved.

Then they heard it again. Car doors closing. Then they heard more voices. Another three, four?

"Sounds like she has visitors," said Rachel.

Frank looked at Rachel. She just loved stating the obvious he thought.

Then the phone rang.

Frank and Rachel could hear them talking.

"You get it!"

"No, you!"

"Why don’t you… come on, I don’t know what to say."

"Oh, alright. I’ll get it."

Frank and Rachel heard it stop ringing.

"Hello?… yes it is…. So what can you tell me?…. What?… he’s kidding…. Really? But he can’t, that wouldn’t be fair to Rachel and Frank…. But he just can’t abandon them? Why not… Hello?… Hello? Damn!"

Frank and Rachel just looked at each other wondering what was going on. Then they could hear more talking.

"So, Jaye, what did they say?"

"Hell Suzie, Hal. won’t draw up the papers…"

"What he is refusing to meet our demands?"

"No Vanessa," Jaye continued, "he won’t draw up the papers because he says he doesn’t want them anymore!"

"So… they’re ours then?"

"I guess so Simone, but it is just so sad. How could he not want them? This is almost as sad for them as when Frank sailed away and left Rachel."

Rachel looked at Frank, puzzled. "What are they talking about? You’re planning on leaving the force?" she questioned.

"Buggered if I know," he replied, "this is all new to me. *Sailed?*"

they continued to listen to the discussion.

"Yeah and Rachel standing there crying on the dock as he sailed out. It was just so sad. Why didn’t they just say exactly how they felt before he left?" said Suzie.

"Oh my god Suzie, and here is me thinking you were happy about Frank going because it meant that Rachel could get with Jack."

"Now I didn’t say *that* Ky!"

"Now this," said Frank, "is getting a bit bizarre. What the hell are they talking about? Me sailing away, *you* crying about it….?"

"Hey don’t get too sure of yourself Francis. This is only a small room and I don’t think it is big enough for both of us *and* your ego. Why would I cry anyway? I mean it’s not like we are anything more than partners?"

"Nah, of course not," he replied. "But they do have some sort of theory about you and Christey! There isn’t anything to tell is there? I mean, Christ Rachel, Jack Christey? Tell me they’re wrong?"

"What I do, or don’t do afterh…"

"Shit Rachel, you didn’t did you? *Him* of all blokes! God, couldn’t you have at least found a half decent one? Christey, bloody hell, have you *no* taste?" he yelled. "It was when I went away for a couple of weeks wasn’t it? I *knew* something happened while I was gone." Frank started pacing the room.

"Oh just shove it Frank," she yelled back, he was one to talk. "You’re a self-centred, arrogant, pig-headed bastard!" she yelled back. "And what I do is none of your business!"

"Ha! Who are *you* calling pig-headed?" he continued to yell. "Why is it that…."

Someone pounded on the door. "Keep it down to a dull roar in there will you two. You too are *supposed* to be friends, so just quit it for awhile."

Frank and Rachel just glared at each other. Whoever she was she was right. They were friends, they both knew that they had a habit of getting so caught up in arguing that their friendship tended to get lost.

"How about we just listen to what they are up to and figure out how the hell to get out of here," said Frank.

"Good idea, I just want to get home." She replied.

Okay, well what are we going to do now? I mean we succeeded, right? But I don’t know, this is the saddest thing. I never expected that he would just not want them?"

"No, the saddest thing was Rachel dying…"

"Frank, shit! They plan to kill me! Hell, what did I ever do to deserve this?" said Rachel.

"Sssshhh, just listen," he replied.

"Have we both of those episodes on tape?" asked one.

"Yep, Suz. we have. You want to watch them again, and we can have a think about where to go from here?"

"That was the idea Kylie. Okay Frank’s last episode and Rachel’s last one. I will set up the video. You want to get some munchies?"

"Have we got any chicken chips?"

"Yes Jaye, in the box on the cupboard."

"Ta. Hey Simone, I brought the Bailey’s! You want some?"

"You need to ask? Of course."

"Come on you guys! Tape is ready." Came the call from the lounge.

"Frank can you see anything? There is a fair gap between the door and the doorframe. Some of these old houses, things move a lot." Said Rachel.

"Hang on…. yeah. I can see them and a TV. Hell, *we’re* on TV! Maybe it’s a surveillance video? But hey, I don’t remember any of it."

Rachel moved over to try and see too.

"Yep, I can see a bit…. How about we just watch this…. Maybe we can figure out what is happening."

The group of women rewatched the episodes still laughing and crying as they had every other time they had rewitnessed Frank leaving and Rachel dying. For Rachel and Frank it was all very surreal. They couldn’t figure out what it was all about, although they could see that it was definitely them but from a time they didn’t recognise.

"Do you realise that this could all happen to us?" asked Frank. "I don’t understand it. I feel like I was watching it all happen to someone else. But it is all very sobering. What do you think we should do?"

"This!" said Rachel pulling Frank over to her and kissing him firmly on the lips."

"Whoa… Rachel," said Frank when she had released him. "What was *that* about?"

"Well, I have just witnessed the worse things that could happen to me. One you leaving, two me dying…."

"Is there a three?" he interrupted.

"Yeah, ending up in the sack again with bloody Jack Christey! Argh, that man is so infuriating. So, I wanted to just set my priorities straight again."

And they are what, kissing me?" he asked.

"Ah, well, what the hell. If I am going to end up dead… what have I to lose," she replied.

"Meaning?" asked Frank.

"Oh hell Frank. What do you think?" she said moving away from the door.

"Well it would be nice to hear it from you?" he replied grinning.

"You like to torture me don’t you Frank?" she replied.

"Yep!" he replied walking over and facing her.

"Okay, okay… well I really *like* you Frank," she said looking at him.

"Like? Like? Is that the best you can do?" he asked wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. "Because I think I am in love with you."

They kissed passionately. Lost so much in their own little world that they failed to hear the door open.

"Ah, excuse us for interrupting, but you guys can go if you want. Please forgive us for …. Well, ah, hello? Are you guys planning on surfacing for air?" said one.

Frank and Rachel unglued there lips from each other and looked at the group of woman in the doorway.

The tallest one spoke, "Look we didn’t want to hurt you guys. We think you are fantastic people, we just didn’t like the way Hal. was keeping you all to himself. Especially now that you’re ah, well…"

"Ah, its okay," said Rachel, "we saw. We don’t understand, but we saw."

"So, let me get this straight," said Frank, "as far as everyone is concerned, I have gone away somewhere and Rachel is dead? Is that how it is?"

The group nodded.

"So," Frank continued, "if we just went away, no one will actually miss us?"

"No, I guess not," replied one of the women. "What do you think?" She asked the others.

"Yeah, Vanessa, I can't see that anyone will."

"Okay Rachel," said Frank, "what do you think? We just go? We are gone already apparently…"

"I don’t know about this Frank. I want to go home," replied Rachel.

"Well, I don’t know, what could be worse? You ending up dead if you go back, or spending the rest of your life with me?" he asked.

"Do I get ten seconds and think music?" she asked with a straight face.

"Rachel!"

"Okay," she grinned, "I’m joking. Oh hell though, what about David. My baby. He will…."

"Sorry," said the one called Vanessa, "but as far as he is concerned you are already gone. He has his grandfather though. And Helen is keeping an eye on him too."

"Oh," Rachel replied sadly, "looks like I don’t have much choice do I?"

"Thanks a lot Rach." Said Frank.

"No, I didn’t mean it like that. Alright Frank, this is going to be one hell of an adventure isn’t it?"

"Well, perhaps we should……. Hey what is that noise?" said Frank.

"What noise," Rachel asked.

"That one…"
