Amazon Bookstore. This interesting US based site is well advertised and is arguably the most well known bookshop on the net. It has a book search facility, reviews, and competitive prices (even including postage to Australia). With wonderful American confidence, it is styled "Earth's Biggest Bookstore". An article in 'The Australian' newspaper 20/6/1998 as reported on their website suggested that perhaps reading is stimulated by the net rather than the net 'replacing' books. This was based on quoted figures that amazon.com sales were up 838% on last year's to $297.5 million Australian.

There are other ways to find sites on the www. You can search for a specific topic using a SEARCH ENGINE - equivalent to looking up the index of a book. (It's easy - ask your librarian or an internet savvy colleague to show you.)
The Internet is easy to browse. Don't be afraid to make use of it. If the business of getting connected confuses you, ask someone else to connect for you and go from there.
