Tiburon Keeshonds were founded by Peter and Lynda Churchward with the purchase of their first Keeshond Ch Gurawin Domenique in September 1976. Since that time we have continuously owned and exhibited successful Kees. We began showing in the Newcastle area north of Sydney NSW, moved to and exhibited in Adelaide from 1979 -81, in Sydney 1981-84 and then moved to Junee, near Wagga Wagga (country NSW).

We have owned a succession of successful dogs, having had 5 best in Show winners and a couple of others who have won Runner up in show awards. Our first big winner was Ch Makoro Sir Benjamin who won our first BIS for us in Adelaide in 1979, his son Ch Tiburon Alexander was our first home bred BIS winner . Born from our first litter in 1980 he won in Newcastle in 1982. By far our most successful dog was Ch Colijn Van Kerel (Kelly) who between 1982 and 1985 was to win 10 BIS and 6 RUBIS awards. Kelly and Ben are behind all the dogs we now show.

Our most recent winners have been Grand Ch Tiburon Bensson who as his name suggests was like Alex a son of Ben. He was born in 1987 and in the early 1990's was extremely successful giving us probably our biggest thrill by winning Best In Group at the 1991 Melbourne Royal (Australia's Crufts) His record was an enviable one winning well over 30 best in non sporting groups and 5 times going RUBIS but for some reason he was never quite able to achieve a BIS,

Another big winner we bred but sold to Mark Murray and Val Hughes has been Grand Ch Tiburon Sir Galahad (Pepe) born in 1992 to date he has 7 BIS, 5 RUBIS and a Sydney Royal Challenge & Best of Breed to his name and is still going strong.

Currently we are campaigning Grand Ch Tiburon Cochise, Ch Tiburon Geronimo and Ch Tiburon Oscar Wilde. Geronimo and Oscar are both BIS winners ,Oscar with 4 and Geronimo 1 ,and Cochise has won 3 RUBIS. Cochise has been extremely successful winning the challenge dog at a large number of the shows he attends in 1996 he won a total 0f 387 CC points and in 1997, 410 pts. When you consider you only need 100 for an Australian Title this indicates his success.

Recently we were lucky enough to win a major award with a bitch for the first time winning RUBIS with Ch Tiburon Portia.

Over the years we have bred sparingly only having just recently whelped our 14th litter. From these we have bred 17 Australian champions and 4 BIS winners. We have shown to their title a further 10 champions from other dogs we have bought.

In 22 years of owning Kees, we have developed our line to such a degree that we feel we can have success for many years to come. We remain open minded and have never been hesitant to buy from other breeders if we feel their dogs have something to offer ours. Hopefully this attitude will keep us competitive for years to come.
